Policy and global cues (on/before 15 Sep 2026)

No new BNM move. OPR remains 2.75%.

FOMC 15–16 September is the tape. After sticky August CPI and a hot PPI, markets had priced a high chance of a 25 bp hike from the current 3.50–3.75% band — which would be the first Fed increase since 2023 if delivered. BoJ is also due later in the week. A hawkish Fed or yen spike would pressure EM assets, REITs, property and high-multiple tech more than the defensive KLCI core. Brent was around US$105–106; Saudi pipeline disruption talk kept a higher-for-longer oil risk live. AI-stock caution in Asia added a second drag.

Malaysia Day (16 September) means no local cash session on Wednesday. Next Bursa print is Thursday, after the Fed statement.

Read-through

Monday’s 1,698 close did not hold. 1,678 was the print low; 1,670–1,676 is the next zone from last week’s maps. Energy and selected planters/oil-service names (Yinson) caught a bid; utilities and consumer staples did not.

Support: 1,678–1,670 then 1,655. Resistance: 1,695–1,700.
