Policy and global cues (on/before 18 Sep 2026)

Bank of Japan (18 Sep): policy rate +25 bp to 1.25%, a 31-year high, 7–2 vote. Two dissenters kept the yen soft instead of stronger. Ueda said the job had shifted from lifting inflation to stopping an overshoot; further hikes still on the table. BNM OPR remains 2.75%.

Fed (16 Sep) already in the price: 3.75–4.00%, dots pointing to another 2026 hike. Oil eased a touch on the day (Brent off the week’s highs), which helped Asia tech risk appetite even as the KLCI leaked.

Rakuten: reclaim 1,670–1,675 or the next shelf is 1,650–1,655.

Week in brief (14–18 Sep)

Mon bounce to 1,698 → Tue slide to 1,679 ahead of FOMC → Wed Malaysia Day closed → Thu 1,675 after the Fed hike → Fri 1,666 with mid-cap rotation. Foreign selling and a wider Fed–BNM gap were the week’s theme; MPI and SunCon were the Friday exceptions.

Read-through

Index weak, tape busy. That is rotation, not a broad crash. 1,662 printed. 1,670 is the first repair level next week.

Support: 1,662–1,655. Resistance: 1,675–1,680.
